Yip joined Josephine, LK Chow & Co. as a partner in October 2016. An accomplished litigator who was named as a recommended lawyer by The Legal 500 in 2018 and 2019, Yip is also is the Managing Partner of the firm’s Kuala Lumpur branch. He brings a wealth of experience to the team and enjoys sharing strategies on how to find practical, efficient and creative solutions for legal disputes.

Yip’s youthful visage is a familiar one at our courts, a place where he appears regularly at all levels, due to his many areas of specialty: Dispute Resolution, Construction Law, Commercial and Corporate matters, Estate Planning, Property Transactions and Sports Law. He has vast experience with related cases within Malaysia and abroad. He has also been engaged as a trainer and speaker at various events. Despite his many years in legal practice, Yip remains passionate about the law and its development.

Yip was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1998. He was Head of the Litigation Department at Messrs. David Lingam & Co. from 2000 to 2004 before he left to set up his own practice. From 2006 to 2009, he joined Messrs. Wong Gowry & Yip as a Partner. Most recently, from 2010 to September 2016, he served as a Partner at Messrs. Richard Wee & Yip, another firm that has previously been recognised by the prestigious Legal 500 from 2014 to 2016.

Yip holds office as both a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public. He is an accredited Mediator with both the Malaysian and Singapore Mediation Centres. He is also the Co-Founder of “Safer Malaysia”, a society-based organisation for citizens against crime in Malaysia that was adopted by the Bar Council of Malaysia in 2014.

Yip is a Lego and action figure enthusiast – evidence of his keen interest can be seen around his office. Yip’s wanderlust has led to him travelling to many far flung corners of the world. He also enjoys running and skiing.
